I have genealogical information for eleven generations of the Lauppe family. I belong to the tenth generation.
The earliest Lauppe ancestor whom I have been able to identify is Cyriacus Lauppe, who was born about 1655 in Durnau, Germany and died in Durnau, Germany. He is my 7th Great Grandparent. His son Andreas Lauppe was born on March 14, 1680 in Durnau, Germany and died April 26, 1755 in Hundsholz, Germany. Andreas is my 6th Great Grandparent. He married Anna Lutz. She was born about 1682, married Andreas about 1702, and died on December 1, 1732.

Cyriacus Lauppe was born in Hundsholz, Germany. He is my Great Great Great Grandfather. His wife Eva Margareta Strohmaier was also born in Hundsholz, Germany. A very striking feature of the family of Cyriacus Lauppe and Eva Margareta Strohmaier Lauppe is first the large number of children they had (12), second the number of children who died at birth or in infancy, and third the naming of children which followed deceased siblings with the same names. How these parents handled all these tragedies is not known, but it must surely have been heartbreaking.

Christian Daniel Lauppe is my Great Great Grandfather. Christian Daniel Lauppe was born in Wittenberg (or Wuetenberg), Germany on December 25, 1813 and died in Germany on November 25, 1840 at the young age of 26. His death was purportedly due to a fall from a hay loft. Thus, it appears that Christian Lauppe was a farmer. His wife, Christina Katharine Kollenbacher Lauppe was also born in Wittenberg (or Wuetenberg), Germany on December 12, 1814 and died on March 30, 1897 in Nebraska (may have been in Seward, Nebraska). How and why she emigrated from Germany to the United States is not known. Perhaps other family members were emigrating and she decided to accompany her relatives. There is no record that she remarried after the untimely death of Christiian Daniel.
